Be Unique When Buying Gifts For Him on Valentine’s Day

January 29, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

Finding the perfect gift for him is one of the trickier things on Valentine's day. You see all the man has to do is buy flowers, chocolates and/or jewelery. Simple (as long as he remembers!)! Of course he can (and should) get more creative but not necessary.

So what should a lady get for a man on Valentine's day? Take it man's perspective. Be unique and make him feel unique. The more unique you are the more memorable that will be for him. Sure you can go and buy him some chocolate or cook him a nice dinner, but will he remember that?

What are some unique gifts that he'll remember?

Race Car Driving

Let him race around the track at speeds above anything he can ever dream of. This will give him a unique thrill on Valentine's day. Suggested Retailers: Virgin Experience Days

Bottle of Whiskey

Buy him his favorite Whiskey for Valentine's day. This is the equivalent of "Man Flowers". Suggested Retailers: The Whisky Exchange

Lingerie For You

Men love seeing their ladies in something sexy. Why not treat him to you in something sexy for Valentine's day. This will work for almost any man out there and is the recommended gift for men according to RedValentine.co.uk! Suggested Retailers: LaSenza or KnickerBox

Those three things above are obviously just suggestions. To be really unique you must think of things that he likes or enjoys. From there ideas should start popping out.

Make Your Own Valentine’s Gift Basket or Hamper

January 29, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

Make your own Valentine's day gift basket (or gift hamper) a perfect gift for him or her. This is such a great idea because you can get an assortment of items and put them in the basket. Her favorite chocolate, his favorite wine, her favorite fruit, etc... The idea being that you load the basket up with a bunch of her/his favorite stuff.

How to make the basket

- Buy a wicker basket around the size of a large bowl (you can usually buy these at any flower shop). Don't have time to get a basket be creative and use a bowl lying around the house or something of that nature.
- Get some see through wrapping paper and some ribbon
- Now buy the items for the basket

Ideas for him

Idea for Her

Now simply cut a LARGE square of your wrapping paper and place the basket in the middle of the square.  Now bring the wrapping paper up around the basket and use the ribbon to tie it all together at the top.

Don't have time to make your the gift basket yourself? Then customize your own gift basket at First4hampers.

Chocolate Box and Jewelery Box

January 18, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

Here is a neat idea for your girlfriend or wife if she likes chocolate and jewelery... which should cover most ladies.

Go to zChocolat.com and buy her a chocolate box as seen in the picture(£30 - £100).  The chocolate boxes at zChocolat.com come in a wooden box rather then a cardboard or paper box.

Mahogany 2-Drawer Chocolate Box (30 pieces) Now buy her a little piece of jewelery that she'll like.  If you don't know what kind of jewelery to buy her but still want to get something then simple diamond stud earings are recommend. Otherwise try to consider her tastes.  Does she like hoop earings?  Does she like Pendants?   You decided upon the jewelery.   Also refer to our Buying Jewelery Online guide for tips on buying online.

Now you take the piece of jewelery out of the box and hide it inside the Chocolate box (preferably near the back of the chocolate box).

Now she will spend the time eating the chocolate and enjoying them thinking that was her present.  Now in a day or two she will find the jewelery and will be thrilled that you hid a gift inside for her.  Make sure that you don't let her take the box to work or a friends house as you don't want the jewelery to go missing.

Note: this idea can work on simpler scale using any box of chocolates.  However, in this case the jewelery must be hidden underneath the chocolates.   As well, it's very difficult to make the box of chocolates look 'un-opened' in this case.

Recommended Chocolatiers: zChocolat.com or Chocolate Trading Company.

Recommended Jewelers: My Diamonds or Christopher Ward London Limited

Romance Your Bedroom – Valentines Day Idea For Your Wife / Girlfriend

January 16, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

Romance Your Bedroom

One of the main themes of Valentine's day is love and this love is often translated to the bedroom.  So why not surprise her with a very romantic bedroom.

How to romanticize your bedroom

You'll need the following four things to make it truly romantic

  • Candles

You should buy 10 or more candles and spread them throughout the room.  The candles should also be scented to make a nice aroma for the room.  Buy her favorite candle scent, if you don't know what it is then anything Vanilla or Strawberry are probably safe bets.

Suggested Retailers: Kiarie or Just Candles

  • Flowers

Flowers are not completely necessary, especially if you've already purchased flowers during the day. However, if you haven't then definitely buy some flowers for the room.  That way she'll have a bouquet to remember that special night.

Suggested Retailers: Next Day Flowers or Clare Florist

  • Rose Petals

Flower petals can be placed throughout the bedroom.  You can either have them throw on the bed like in "American Beauty" (see the video below) or put them in small dishes spread throughout the room.  If she's very picky about cleanliness then it is suggested to put them in small dishes.

Suggested Retailers: Party Delights or Next Day Flowers

  • Lingerie

Buy some nice lingerie for her.  You can either go with something a little risque like or you can buy nice nightwear. This just ads that extra touch that you have been thinking about her all day.

Suggested Retailers: FigLeaves UK, Knickerbox or LaSenza

  • Clean Bed Sheets

This may seem like a weird final piece for the bedroom but most ladies like clean bed sheets.   By you placing clean bedsheet on the bed she'll know that you are ensuring her total comfort for the night.

This idea works great by having a sign on the bedroom saying "do not enter" (or something of that nature).  She'll then be wondering what's in the room for the whole night and will add an element of suspense to the evening.  Also, this should go without saying but be sure to tidy up the room so that the parts on highlight (candles, flowers, flower petals, etc.) are on display.

However you decided to do this romantic valentine's day idea for your wife/girlfriend be sure that you emphasize your love for her.  That's the true meaning of Valentine's day.

Selecting the Proper Customized Valentine’s Gifts

January 15, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

One of the great things about Valentine's day is making customized Valentine's gifts.  I'm not talking something that you would make in primary school we're talking about being selecting a useful item or gift and getting that properly customized.  You simply have to put a little thought into selecting and customizing the gift.  So how do you go about making a good customized valentine's gift?  Here are some simple tips for you to pick the correct personalized gift.

1) Brainstorm what he or she likes

You should grab a piece of paper and write down all the things that he/she likes.  For example:  Golfing, Football, Scotch and TV.

2) Think of things that he/she might need or want

Using the list of things that he/she like to do you think of things that he/she might want or use.  Don't worry too much about trying to determine if you can personalize the object. For example: golf balls, golf tees, golf towel, football magazine subscription, tumbler glass for scotch, more bottles of scotch, etc..

3) Browse a store which sells customized valentine's gifts such as Getting Personal.

From the list above I can see that the golf items are all customizable.

4) Now getting something engraved (or written) on the selected item.

When selecting what to get engraved on the item first think of the use of the item.  For example the golf towel you probably don't want to get both of your names written on it.  It would be better as something like "I love you" or something along those lines.  Be creative but also think of the use of the item prior to getting it engraved.

Of course, if you have ran out of time and can't make something customized then you can always order chocolates (Chocolate Trading Company), flowers (Next Day Flowers) or a gift hamper (First4hampers) and get it rush delivered.  Plus you can take solice in the fact that guranateed you weren't the only person to do this!

Romantic Valentine’s Idea – Post A Love Letter To Her

January 12, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

A nice Valentine's idea for your loved one is to mail him/her a love letter at their office or home.   You simply get a nice piece of paper and HAND write a love letter, poem or whatever you want on the paper.

Then head to the post office to mail the letter. Be sure that you will be posting the letter so that it arrives ON valentine's day.  You'll probably have to pay a bit extra for it but that'd be bad if it showed up early or late.

Why is posting a letter romantic?

There are a few reasons why this is romantic.  First it shows that you've been thinking about her/him and have planned far enough in advance to have the letter arrive on Valentine's day.  Second, the letter will arrive completely unannounced.  You can either make the outside of the letter show that it's a love letter from you OR you can just make seem like a plain letter so the surprise is on the inside.  Finally, what you include in the letter is romantic.

What to include in the letter?

The letter should come from the heart.  Anything that tells her exactly how you feel about her is a good start.  If you aren't good at writing or can't come up with something then search online for a romantic poem. Then hand write the poem out (putting the author's name at the bottom) then write something along the lines of "My words can't express the way I feel for you but this poem does..."

Cost:

£ 1.00 - Nice Paper
£ 1.50 - Postage Fees

Stay In For Chocolate Fountain Night

January 11, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

A great idea for Valentine's day that won't blow your budget is to make a Chocolate Fountain Night. A chocolate fountain is basically a three-dimensional chocolate fondue. For a Chocolate Fountain Night you'll need a chocolate fountain, high quality chocolate and fruit.

You'll need to buy the following things:

A Chocolate Fountain - Home Chocolate Fountains range in size up to about 19" tall. They are primarily made of plastic and may have some stainless steel components (although all-stainless models do exist) and are usually dishwasher safe. Home chocolate fountains normally hold 6 or less pounds of chocolate.

Chocolate - It is imperative that you buy Couverture Chocolate to get the correct flow of the chocolate. Most chocolate fountains will come with a pack of the specialty chocolate or the chocolate shop will recommend the correct chocolate for your fountain.

Recommended Chocolatiers: zChocolat or Chocolate Trading Company

Fruit - The fruit you want to create an assortment of fruit cut into approximately 2-3 cm cubes. Some good fruit to consider is Strawberries, Banana's, Kiwi's and Oranges.

Now you simply cut up the fruit the day before and follow the instructions on the chocolate fountain to make your chocolate flow!

Cost:

Chocolate Fountain: £ 49.95
Chocolate: £ 8.5
Fruit: £ 10 (approximately)

Total Cost: £ 68.95

How To Make A Good Personalized Valentine’s Gift

January 6, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

Personalized Presents: Why and how to make a good personalized gift

Providing your loved one with a gift that you make, or personalize, will show the effort and care you took to providing her (or him) with something from your heart. Don't try to extend yourself too far, instead focus on gifts that you can reasonably personalize on your own and focus on your particular skill set.

For example, if you're a musician then consider writing and performing a song for your loved one, while those who are prolific writers should consider writing a poem or short story as a romantic gesture. No matter what your particular set of skills might be, you can apply your talents to craft the perfect gift that she is sure to remember for years to come.

Steps to Make a Good Gift

To start take stock of what your loved one truly enjoys, as well as her professional aspirations. Once you have written down a list of her favorite activities, think of a gift that you can create to supplement the activity and improve her daily life. For example, if she is an avid home chef, then consider making a personalized recipe book that she can fill out with her own ideas – this will be a book that she completes on a regular basis, and will continue to think about you with every use.

Another fun personalized gift tip is to make a gift of the memories that you two share: you can take a memorable photograph of the two of you and create a jigsaw puzzle based upon the experience, which you can then assemble together – this will allow you to share memories of events past and reminisce about the future. This can be done at GettingPersonal.co.uk

You can take this idea a step further by creating a personalized photo album, which you can create by hand, with unique designs and commentary that will show her that you truly put a lot of thought into the present. If you're giving a gift of jewelry, consider a keepsake necklace that features a picture of you two to make the gift more meaningful. Again at GettingPersonal.co.uk.

Whatever you decided to do be sure that you take her considerations into mind, your skills into mind and a way to join those two things to create something magical.

How to buy a romantic Valentine’s Day present

January 4, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

Heading into Valentine's Day, you may be anticipating gift selection with a bit of anxiety, as you want to pick out the perfect romantic gift for your loved one. Well, the good news is that you have countless options to choose from, so that you can select the perfect gift for your significant other. Today, you have more gift options than ever before, ranging from local, fresh flowers (Next Day Flowers) delivered exactly to your specification to imported chocolates (Chocolate Trading Company or Cadbury), which can put a smile on her face while satiating her sweet tooth.

Rather than trying to figure out the perfect gift for your loved one, consider selecting a variety of smaller gifts or a gift basket (First4hampers) that will show you you truly care. Gift baskets can be a great way to give a number of presents in a single format, including indulgences which she can continue to appreciate long after the holiday has ended. Many lifestyle sellers offer a wellness and beauty gift basket which will provide a variety of beauty products that she can enjoy every day, which will keep her thinking about your kindness throughout the year.

Another great lasting, romantic gift is to send a variety box of chocolates, including imported dark chocolate truffles which she can savor over the coming weeks. Truffles come in a wide variety of flavors and recipes, so they contain a diversify of treats within a single box. Make sure you attach a personalized note to the gift, explaining why you selected this particular treat, along with a note of your affection for her.

Always take into account your loved one's favorites, as you'll want to select a gift that suits her particularly well and make sure that you make an extra effort to get her a unique present that she is soon to remember. Try to supplement the gift with a creation from your own heart, such as a home-cooked meal or a personalized weekend vacation (Red Letter Days) that you both can share and enjoy.

Whatever you end up choosing make sure that you take one thing into consideration: HER or HIM. The more thought you put into what he/she would want the better the gift will be and the more likely they will like the gift.
