Romantic Idea #3 – Make Him/Her A Mix Tape

December 24, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

Back in the 80's and 90's everyone made their loved ones a mix tape to show someone how they felt. This was simply the way to show your love; through music. With the introduction of CD's the art form started to lose it's luster. Now with most of the music in digital format mix-tapes are no more. In fact, if you fancy a tape good luck! Unfortunately, the mix tape was so successful and helpful at telling someone how you felt. The mix-tape showed how much you cared as you needed to put in enough work to fix all the songs in 60 minutes, choose the right songs and the right order. Crikey it was a lot of work (but worth it)!

This year you can bring back the mix-tape idea with your loved one. GettingPersonal has released a mixed-tape USB cassette for everyone to enjoy and share. The mix tape is a 64MB USB Memory stick encased in a old school style cassette case. They have done their best to keeping it to the original as it will only hold up to 60 minutes of quality recording time. When finished with the version save it on your hard-drive and wipe it clean and re-used as often as required. A great romantic idea for a loved one who will remember the mix-tape days. Not quite as nostalgic with the younger crowd and they may miss the idea entirely. Click here to purchase the USB Mixed Tape from GettingPersonal.

If you are looking to make something slightly better than a Mix Tape for your loved one then consider our idea of giving an IPod loved with music . This involves buying an ipod and loading it with her favorite music!

A free version of the mix tape which can be equally romantic is to make her a YouTube Playlist. Simply make a playlist of her favorite music, videos and shows.

Whichever romantic idea you choose be sure to leave yourself enough time to select the music and/or videos. Also, be sure to start paying attention to him/her to ensure that you're picking whichever music he/she will like.

Unique Romantic Idea #2 – Hide A Love Token

December 23, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

Being unique for Valentine's day is a great way to differentiate yourself from other blokes. You know that most blokes will be buying flowers, chocolates and lingerie. However, only a select few will be coming up with something unique that your bird will love. In our last unique romantic idea we mentioned building her a website for valentine's day, a great idea but takes a bit of work and preparation. This idea takes very little preparation, costs only 6 quid and is equally exciting!
romantic love token
Give or Hide A Love Token

The idea is that you purchase a love token for her as shown in the image. Then on Valentine's day you hide it in or around something she uses all the time. She will find it on Valentine's day, open it and see that you're saying "I Love You". It's a very special gift that many ladies will appreciate. She can then choose to keep the love token or re-hide it for you. It makes a very fun game for both of you. This unique romantic idea works equally well for a lady to give her man as most men like to play games.

A few tips when choosing the location to hide the token

  • Be sure she'll find it on Valentine's day
  • Don't hide it in something that will cause her pain. (ie: the bottom of shoes she rips on)
  • Keep it wrapped up for the first time you hide it.

This love token can then be re-hidden over and over with you both taking turns to find and hide the token throughout the year. My wife and I have been hiding our own love token for a year. Often, we'll go a few weeks without finding it and then it will show up and put a smile on our face! This is a great way to keep the love, fun and adventure with your loved one all year long.

You can purchase your love tokens at GettingPersonal.co.uk. They have two options:
I Love You Token (£5.95)
- The best option if that's how you feel.
Simple Heart Token (£4.95) - The second best option if you don't want to commit to the words "I Love You"

Romantic Idea #2 – A Night At Home To Remember

December 13, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

A great and not super expensive romantic idea is a night at home to remember. A night home to remember is when you stay in on Valentine's day rather than going out. You will save money, treat your lady very special and have a romantic evening.

1) Prepare a nice meal for her, preferably one of her favorites. If you don't know what to cook we suggest something not too heavy as you won't want to be stuffed. Although, some consider Jamie Oliver to be a dip stick he cooks some fine meals. Of course, if you have no cooking skills then take-away will work.

2) Have candles and flowers placed throughout your house (preferably in more than just the bedroom).

3) Give her flowers, chocolates and don't forget a card!

4) After dinner provide some sort of entertainment. This could include watching a film, playing a game, going for a walk or simply talking and enjoying a nice glass of wine. You don't want to suddenly finish your meal and then have to hop in the bath.

5) After dinner run a hot bath with Rose Bud Bath Flowers, place candles in the bathroom and turn off the lights. A perfect bath for two!

6) After the bath it's up to you!

Items Needed

Remember, throughout the night should be about her and your love together. Talk about things that you would like to do with her in the future whether it's trying out a new pub, new restaurant or traveling the world. These are things that she'll want to hear as it shows that you care and think about your future together!

Bonus Tips

  • The Rose Buds Bath Flowers are not totally necessary but great as they look like a perfect rose but dissolve in the water to release a heavenly rose scent and soothing elixir.
  • If you're living by yourself be sure to clean the house properly. One of the biggest turn-off's for a bird is having a dirty place.
  • You don't have to join her for a bath. Ask her if she wants company, don't assume you've been invited!
  • Romantic Idea #1 – Feed Her Sensual Food Blindfolded

    December 11, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

Romantic idea #1: feeding her sensual food blindfolded with an eyemask. Tell her that taking away one sense will enhance the others making the food taste better.
    eyemask or blindfold
While feeding her food don't forget to sneak in the occasional kiss as she'll like that too. When you're done feeding her she might want to feed you too be sure to take your turn and enjoy the fruits of your labour.

    Items Needed

    • Eyemasks
    • Sensual Food: Chocolates, Fruit, Cheese, etc...

Simply cut the fruit and food up into small 1-2 cm chunks. Put the blindfold on her and feed her very sensually making sure she tastes all the fruit and licks your fingers clean.

    A few tips:

    • Be sure to have a wide variety of fruits and chocolates for her to try.
    • Select whichever type of fruit you know that she likes. (strawberries, pineapple and grapes are always good)
    • Consider buying a Valentine's day hamper which will have all the requirements for this romantic idea.
    • Champagne(or wine) is a must

This romantic idea can be both sensual and romantic while not costing too many quid. The eyemask should only cost around £3.00 and the fruit and chocolates can cost however much you want. Be sure not to forget something to drink in case she doesn't like one of the fruits or chocolates.

Make a Paper Rose On Valentine’s Day

    January 19, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

Here's a great idea for your girlfriend or wife. Make her a paper rose for Valentine's day!

This gift will show that you've spent some time learning how to make something special for her and she'll definitely think this is cool. You could also combine this idea with buying REAL flowers. Simply buy the real flowers and place your paper rose inside the bouquet (away from the water).

Suggested Retailers: Next Day Flowers or Valueflora.com.

    Chocolate Box and Jewelery Box

    January 18, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

Here is a neat idea for your girlfriend or wife if she likes chocolate and jewelery... which should cover most ladies.

Go to zChocolat.com and buy her a chocolate box as seen in the picture(£30 - £100).  The chocolate boxes at zChocolat.com come in a wooden box rather then a cardboard or paper box.

Mahogany 2-Drawer Chocolate Box (30 pieces) Now buy her a little piece of jewelery that she'll like.  If you don't know what kind of jewelery to buy her but still want to get something then simple diamond stud earings are recommend. Otherwise try to consider her tastes.  Does she like hoop earings?  Does she like Pendants?   You decided upon the jewelery.   Also refer to our Buying Jewelery Online guide for tips on buying online.

Now you take the piece of jewelery out of the box and hide it inside the Chocolate box (preferably near the back of the chocolate box).

Now she will spend the time eating the chocolate and enjoying them thinking that was her present.  Now in a day or two she will find the jewelery and will be thrilled that you hid a gift inside for her.  Make sure that you don't let her take the box to work or a friends house as you don't want the jewelery to go missing.

Note: this idea can work on simpler scale using any box of chocolates.  However, in this case the jewelery must be hidden underneath the chocolates.   As well, it's very difficult to make the box of chocolates look 'un-opened' in this case.

Recommended Chocolatiers: zChocolat.com or Chocolate Trading Company.

Recommended Jewelers: My Diamonds or Christopher Ward London Limited

Romance Your Bedroom – Valentines Day Idea For Your Wife / Girlfriend

    January 16, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

    Romance Your Bedroom

One of the main themes of Valentine's day is love and this love is often translated to the bedroom.  So why not surprise her with a very romantic bedroom.

    How to romanticize your bedroom

You'll need the following four things to make it truly romantic

    • Candles

You should buy 10 or more candles and spread them throughout the room.  The candles should also be scented to make a nice aroma for the room.  Buy her favorite candle scent, if you don't know what it is then anything Vanilla or Strawberry are probably safe bets.

Suggested Retailers: Kiarie or Just Candles

    • Flowers

Flowers are not completely necessary, especially if you've already purchased flowers during the day. However, if you haven't then definitely buy some flowers for the room.  That way she'll have a bouquet to remember that special night.

Suggested Retailers: Next Day Flowers or Clare Florist

    • Rose Petals

Flower petals can be placed throughout the bedroom.  You can either have them throw on the bed like in "American Beauty" (see the video below) or put them in small dishes spread throughout the room.  If she's very picky about cleanliness then it is suggested to put them in small dishes.

Suggested Retailers: Party Delights or Next Day Flowers

    • Lingerie

Buy some nice lingerie for her.  You can either go with something a little risque like or you can buy nice nightwear. This just ads that extra touch that you have been thinking about her all day.

Suggested Retailers: FigLeaves UK, Knickerbox or LaSenza

    • Clean Bed Sheets

This may seem like a weird final piece for the bedroom but most ladies like clean bed sheets.   By you placing clean bedsheet on the bed she'll know that you are ensuring her total comfort for the night.

This idea works great by having a sign on the bedroom saying "do not enter" (or something of that nature).  She'll then be wondering what's in the room for the whole night and will add an element of suspense to the evening.  Also, this should go without saying but be sure to tidy up the room so that the parts on highlight (candles, flowers, flower petals, etc.) are on display.

However you decided to do this romantic valentine's day idea for your wife/girlfriend be sure that you emphasize your love for her.  That's the true meaning of Valentine's day.

Light Up Her/His Night With Stickers On Valentine’s Day

    January 13, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

Here's a neat idea to supplement your gift to your Valentine on Valentine's day.  Light up I LOVE YOU on your ceiling.

Simply buy some Glow in The Dark Stickers.  You know the ones that you probably used to have as a kid or that you're children currently have.  They usually come in the form of stars.

Take them and place them on your roof spelling I LOVE YOU on the roof of your bedroom.

That night you can have a romantic evening, obviously not telling her about the stickers.  Then when she goes to bed and looks at the ceiling she'll see you love message.   It'll make a very nice present and she'll probably thank you right there and then!

You can buy the Glow in the Dark Stars at Hamleys.

    Cost: £5

Romantic Valentine’s Idea – Post A Love Letter To Her

    January 12, 2009 by Romantic · Leave a Comment

A nice Valentine's idea for your loved one is to mail him/her a love letter at their office or home.   You simply get a nice piece of paper and HAND write a love letter, poem or whatever you want on the paper.

Then head to the post office to mail the letter. Be sure that you will be posting the letter so that it arrives ON valentine's day.  You'll probably have to pay a bit extra for it but that'd be bad if it showed up early or late.

Why is posting a letter romantic?

There are a few reasons why this is romantic.  First it shows that you've been thinking about her/him and have planned far enough in advance to have the letter arrive on Valentine's day.  Second, the letter will arrive completely unannounced.  You can either make the outside of the letter show that it's a love letter from you OR you can just make seem like a plain letter so the surprise is on the inside.  Finally, what you include in the letter is romantic.

What to include in the letter?

The letter should come from the heart.  Anything that tells her exactly how you feel about her is a good start.  If you aren't good at writing or can't come up with something then search online for a romantic poem. Then hand write the poem out (putting the author's name at the bottom) then write something along the lines of "My words can't express the way I feel for you but this poem does..."

    Cost:

    £ 1.00 - Nice Paper
    £ 1.50 - Postage Fees
